Community Guidelines
Effective from
Friends is for discovering books through people you trust. These guidelines apply to your social handle, display name, friend requests, invitations, and other social interactions on Tropely. You must accept these guidelines before creating a social profile.
Be respectful
Do not threaten, harass, bully, stalk, shame, or encourage harm to another person. Hate speech, discriminatory abuse, and attacks based on protected characteristics are not allowed. Do not post sexually explicit, exploitative, or violent material in your name or handle. Any sexual content involving minors is prohibited and may be reported to the appropriate authorities.
Respect identity and privacy
Use a name that does not impersonate another person, organisation, or Tropely staff member. Do not publish someone else's private information or try to identify an account holder against their wishes. Do not use alternate accounts or changed handles to evade a block, suspension, or request limit.
Keep invitations and requests welcome
Send requests and invitations only to people you have a legitimate reason to connect with. Do not spam, repeatedly contact someone who has declined, misrepresent what an invitation does, or share invitation links to trick others into connecting. You are responsible for where you share a link; anyone who receives an unexpired, unused link may be able to preview it and ask to connect.
Share only what you choose
Reading can be personal. Creating a Friends profile turns on sharing, so review which current and recently finished books may appear to friends before joining. You can hide a book, pause sharing, remove a friend, block an account, or delete your social profile. Do not pressure others to share their reading or explain a private choice.
Reporting and blocking
Use the in-app Report action on a person's profile, friend request, or friendship to tell us about a concern. Include enough context to help us investigate, but do not include unnecessary sensitive information. Use Block to prevent a person from connecting with you or seeing your social activity. You can also email admin@tropely.io for safety help. If there is an immediate danger, contact local emergency services.
Reports are reviewed by Tropely. Depending on the circumstances, we may reject or change a name, remove access to social features, suspend an account, or take no action. Serious or repeated violations may lead to account closure. We may preserve a limited record of a report so it can be reviewed even if a profile changes or is deleted. Do not file knowingly false or retaliatory reports.
If you think a moderation decision was wrong, email admin@tropely.io with the account connected to the decision and a brief explanation. We will review the appeal separately from the original report when practicable.
How Tropely applies these guidelines
Tropely filters handles and display names before they appear to others, offers in-app reporting and blocking, and reviews reports. These controls reduce abuse but cannot guarantee that every objectionable name or interaction is caught immediately. We prioritise threats, safety risks, and repeated abuse.
