About The Garden of the Finzi-Continis
In Ferrara in the late 1930s, a young Jewish narrator is drawn into the secluded world of the aristocratic Finzi-Contini family and into an unfulfilled love for Micòl. Bassani’s novel contrasts youthful intimacy and nostalgia with the creeping violence of Mussolini’s racial laws and the Holocaust.
